Guilford County is located in the northern portion of the Piedmont and has as its county seat the city of Greensboro.
The city is located approximately 300 miles south of Washington, DC, 300 miles north of Atlanta, Georgia, and 500 miles south of New York City. With a population of approximately 232,000, the city is well known for its tremendous range of cultural activities including the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra, the Natural Science Center of Greensboro, the Center for Creative Arts, and the UNCG Concert series. Greensboro is home to six colleges and universities including the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
